Dana Smeal, MA, Marriage and Family Therapist Associate
Hi, I’m Dana, and I count it a privilege to walk alongside individuals, couples, and families as they navigate life’s challenges and rediscover connection and hope. My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and grounded in the belief that healing happens through authentic relationship.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist Associate, I work with couples seeking to strengthen communication, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional and spiritual intimacy. I also support individuals facing anxiety, grief, and faith-related concerns, helping them find clarity and peace in the midst of transition or loss. My clinical work is guided by evidence-based models such as Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman-informed interventions, while also drawing from family systems and attachment theory to understand how our relational patterns shape our lives.
My background includes years of pastoral care and leadership experience, which deeply inform my work as a therapist. I honor the whole person: mind, body, and spirit and create space for clients to explore their faith or values as part of their healing process if they choose. Now that my husband and I are enjoying our empty-nest season, we spend much of our free time camping, playing music together, and finding renewal in nature and community.
I’m currently practicing under the supervision of Marion Montooth, LMFT, at Montooth Counseling, and Dr. Dale Bertram, LMFT, of Campbellsville University at the CU Well.
