Sophia Nguyen, MS, LPCA

Hi! I was born and raised in Searcy, Arkansas and now call Lexington, KY home. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Harding University. I am passionate about helping children, teens, and young adults feel heard, supported, and understood. I believe that everyone has the strength within them to overcome and navigate any challenge or struggle. I have found that empathy, patience, connection, and curiosity are indispensable when helping people reach their fullest potential. My aim is to help you see your strengths and provide you with the tools and resources that you need along the way. I believe that the pursuit of self-improvement and introspection is difficult and admirable; it is utterly amazing to witness people find freedom from their past and begin to discover joy and happiness again.

My main theoretical approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and I use techniques from other evidence-based practices to provide clients with various techniques and tools to fit their needs. I am also trained in EMDR, Brainspotting, and TF-CBT. I take a holistic approach to counseling and take into consideration your environment and upbringing, as I believe those things have shaped your beliefs and values and made you who you are today. I see counseling as a collaborative relationship, which focuses on establishing trust and working as a team to identify goals and explore adaptive ways to address issues.

Outside of counseling, I enjoy reading a good book, being active, watching anime, playing games, spending time with my kitties and dog, and engaging in creative activities.

I am offering flexible appointments, including evenings and weekends. I am so excited to connect with you and help you live out your most authentic and fulfilled life!
